I like your take. I was never quite literal as you because I had been exposed to many languages by the time I joined and knew how difficult it was to get meanings of one language in another. What I often did was use two different bibles and would read them simultaneously to get at their deep meaning. It was very enlightening to me. I still do the same thing even within different English translations.
