"This is a completely bullshit report.
India is the most pluralistic and tolerant place on earth"
Well, with such prejudice...personal opinion, who could tell you otherwise??
"And I saw Muslims going into Jain temples and Catholic churches, Hindus going into mosques to visit. I bought a mandala from a Muslim who was well-versed in Tibetan religious art and Buddhist philosophy."
This is about syncretism, which is quite widespread in India...I have filed a news report of a converted foreigner getting thrown out of a Hindu-temple...because a real Hindu has to be born in India (or to be of Indian blood/descendance???)
You missed my point about me having been there at the height of the communal riots between Sikhs and Hindus...
The attack of the golden temple was in defiance of religious sentimens...Anti-Sikh...even if you can understand the military
/anti-terrorist... central overnment-angle to it....so it was in defiance of religion nonetheless...the terrorst were anyway trapped
inside...Sikhs were traditionally the defenders of Hindus against the muslims...therefore quite a tragic turn...how they massacred each other...you seem to be ignorant of the sentiments of Indians ...more village-people...who can get into a mob-frenzy...you seem to judge by the affluent city-folks...who are often very secular in behaviour/thinking
"When the context of "most populous countries" is given then it becomes clear why India is even mentioned at all. The country has a lot of people there, so statiscally speaking, shit happens. And if you see the methodology of the report, the fact that any shit happens at all and it happens to be reported, it all piles up into a big bad shit report. But what percentage of the Indian population is actually religiously intolerant? Probably far less than that of the UK or USA."
Well, what interests me is the overall percentage of incidences...provided strong data exists...and the oppression of the dalits is
an Hindu-intercultural one...opposing that...as Christians did, plus human right activists..only results in heavy flak from the upper casts, such as the Brahmins etc....it's a myth..that all Germans were anti Jewish to the mark...but they didn't resist either in the dictatorship and may be couldn't too much...to me, there were too many incidents and you call that...oh shit happens and the most tolerant place on earth...
"Questions can be rigged"...yes, but not facts...please note, that the biggest intolerance happens from the staunch rght-wing
Hindu-activists if any conversions have happened...then you learn something about their intolerance...
Do I oppose as a German, if some German girl is nonetheless attracted by Islam and converts...following the dress-code etc.
no...but you don't have similar tolerance in Islamic and staunch Hinduistic-places
