In a discussion below you ask Philosophy Doctor:
"P.S. "sorry" to ask here: Do/did you accept Jesus for your eternal life(salvation) in God's light & presence as the Son/ lamb of God sacrificed and risen from the dead?Would be wonderful to hear that..."
The way you've expressed this means that if the answer is not yes, then it would not be wonderful. For the record the opposite of wonderful is appalling. From what I think I know about you from reading your posts I don't believe you'd be appalled if he/she said "no", but maybe you'd be disappointed, however is it really important if and/or how Philosophy Doctor answers?
When I met the COG I performed that prayer to accept Jesus for my eternal life(salvation) in God's light...(etc.) And as a doctrine it remained a mainstay in that long part of my life that I lived as a member of the Family.
Since I exited the group my journey has taken me down unexpected paths to new places of wonder and fulfillment. In the place I'm in today I don’t see Life and life after life in terms of salvation, and I especially don't view one's life journey in terms of not being saved if someone doesn’t "accept Jesus for their eternal life(salvation) in God's light & presence as the Son/ lamb of God sacrificed and risen from the dead." I see that as exclusive and my experience in my journey is that human consciousness is evolving in ways that go far beyond things that exclude and/or divide.
The teachings of Jesus truly are wonderful, as a teacher beyond comparison …I’m not afraid of sounding new age, and I admit to enjoying the writings of people like Deepak Chopra, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Echart Tolle, John O’Donahue, etc.
To sum things up, as I am today I’m just not able to retrieve concepts I formerly adamantly adhered to: that "there's only one Name under Heaven whereby we must be saved."
