I didn't look up the English site...so my terminology might vary ...as I describe things from the German usage...
In the advanced booksearch...as I guess you know...you have options, like the complete view...rather only complete view.I downloaded for trial recently a book, without reading all of googles preface, but I suppose I can use it for private purposes...as with very old books, the licenseship seems to have expired...no idea exactly what time-span that is; I assume 100 years.That way I might save on spending money for books who are online!! and downloadable...
Now I got quite a few books of theologians of older times..say early middle 19th century, when "modernism" wasn't the bigger problem.A lot of times these scholars had an amazing grip of the old languages...as I know, that they were trained even more then right from high school...at least in Europe...so their verdicts I don't take lightly.
With time you get to know the names of the more conservative/fundamental scholars...also believing in revival etc.
In Germany among others it's e.g. Tholuck and Hengstenberg...so here is a complete book of someone discussing the work of Hengstenberg...may be you enjoy that and find other old books to look into and share....have fun:
