And it really got bad during the internal Victor Camps, what did they call them, Intensive Care or something, where the whole Family was on reading lists and damnable outward perfection trips and if you dropped a dish it was a sign of a demon. It was horrible repression. The ugly face of control finally showed itself for what it was: just outward show of manpleasing and conformity. Even the dress and clothes became nondescript and drab.
You're right, MV. All the repression was pretty sick stuff and the poor people who weren't as good at keeping up the outward show got the most exorcisms until their emotions that they couldn't keep in finally became damaged and frayed.
But then after a while Maria said to go especially after the "good" kids. The directives came out in childcare at least that it was the "good" kids, the ones who exhibited no problems, who were always obedient....THEY were the really truly dangerous ones! They were the ones hiding the worst stuff. So drop those poor kids into the meatgrinder too. Remember that?
