CB:
This may anger you--I'm sorry.
The only exceptions I make to what you said are the ones Paul made in 1Cor 6 and Gal 5, where he said that those who "practice" such things--a BIG list, not JUST sex sins--(I take "practice" to mean "don't repent of and change, with God's help" to the "such WERE some of you, but now you are washed and sanctified by God's Word and God's Spirit")) will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
I think that ESPECIALLY people like ex-TFers need to heed that part of Scripture; with all respect, and the love of Christ. Sex sin was the essential seducing part of the cult--the people who stayed in the longest were those most easily deceived ABOUT sex sins and their results.
Last Friday, our Senior Pastor had a special "Fireside Chat", specifically about how NOT to fall into all of the stereotyps the gay community has about typical evangelicals.
What was stressed was an extreme kindness and friendliness, longsuffering and gentleness. we were all enjoined to ask the Lord to heal the brokenhearted and give a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair, acknowledging the brokenness that accompanies sex sin (hetero- and homo-) without compromising what Scripture has always actually said about it.
Could say alot more--very busy with my Specical ED kids, here, at the moment!
