...seriously...I am glad you took it upon yourself to address that...I felt like doing it...but still it is way better you did it.
What people need to understand...I'd say, what CB coined Christianity 101 is IMO actually kindergarden or nursery...of course we can and should do well to others...but it even says foremost to the brethren...we can do good to the poor...the poor you have always with you...but me...and the gospel is preached to the poor...the last scripture-portion woke me up, while I was in India and my parents presented me before leaving to India this biography about mother Theresa...which I actually read and at times my "faith in TF" reeled heavily...I remember this dear Indian older disciple...by profession a teacher...who had problems with a portion of a Berg-letter, where he said it aches him the sight of disabled and he couldn't stand it...the same ...if I am not mistaken should have been true for Ricky...but the Indian brother argued...that is also what we we're there for...
I guess the truth is somewhere in between...without the Gospel the poor is not helped eternally but just temporarily etc.
Anyway..Christianity is also about dos and donts...and people seem to dislike that ...our sinful nature...by the time you tell someone...oh...as a Christian you should rather not...you kind of act like someone who spoils the "party"...
Actually a lot of churchgoers remind me a bit of
"event-seekers"...Jesus was quite deserted in his trying times...Paul too...is that Christianity "1001"???
