The old testament has lots of forbidden things mentioned. In fact, Paul has a lot to say which contemporary Christians don't believe with regard to his opinions concerning women. Even Paul referred to his opinions that differed from the Lord's. I do believe there are good reasons that certain forbidden things were instituted: Disease was spread without knowledge of how or why, and measures were taken to forbid things associated with illness. What was not understood was seen as a judgement of God.
So- it's against OT law to eat shrimp, oyster and pork, to name a few things, and there are a whole lot of people who abstain for fear of breaking the "law".
Like you said about using the wrong "pipe", it's not so much about the plumbing as it is about protecting self. Nowadays, people know when it's best to avoid oysters and also to eat them fresh caught from uncontaminated waters or from vendors known to use quality product. They can still make people sick, but the risk is real slim when careful.
Regarding pipes, there is protection for that as well, but it is riskier business.
I went to Pappadeaux's this week and ate a bunch of mud-bugs (crawfish) and raw oysters. They were so GOOD!!
I'm not sure if you were saying, in another post, that you had an attraction that you battled with (to same sex- at one time). It is not uncommon for people in their youth to feel attractions that are to either sex. But if you found yourself attracted to men and felt bad about that, you might consider going to a Christian counselor that is not anti-gay. Their job would not be to recruit you to Big Gay Al and friends, but to help you come to terms with that confusion you experienced and that might still be bugging you today. If I understood you right. It's not uncommon for "straight" youth to get confused about feelings of attraction towards someone of the same sex, and then they discover that is or is NOT where their preference lies.
You might have been saying that you struggled with whether you should have sex with a man because of Berg's deviant writings. It's deviant to tell people that they should meet the sexual "needs" of others as if that is all people are about is SEX and you should do "it" for the sake of God and cult. That came from Berg's twisted soul. In that case, I could see how you could feel tortured to do something you felt you should do but which was not YOU. Either tortured for doing it, or tortured for refusing to do it.
When I look back at what Berg did, I can't help but see a man with a plan that was "evil" to the core.
