Their followers did continue, over the following years, to debate sharply, and Luther's view became what mine is now; more or less. I have also read RC Sproul extensively, and respect him for several things, just not the TULIP theological apriori assumptions toward Scripture. I disagree with t hem and do NOT believe them, as I have stated, for the reasons I have stated.

Huge crushing and killing military power was behind the unreformable RCC; yes. Calvin was young and in a hurry, and his folloers tried to make more of his writings than should have been done; I think--don't forget the political element--it's always playing a big part, in any era.
