I sort of have a different take on tattoos. I don't endorse them, would advise someone not to get one. They are permanent, costly, and could be dangerous, (I have hep-c, not from tattos)
Being in ministry with youth and young adults in the 21st century it is something that is common among Christian young people. They do it to glorify God and are sincere about it. I am not the judge. If a young person were to ask me if they should get one I'd say no, more for practical reasons than spiritual reasons. There are Christian Tattoo Associations:

I take joy in being one of His tattoos! Through the good, the bad, and the ugly He has had me in His hands!
