I enjoyed the dialogue with you...mir...it's not easy to keep up with all the requirements of life and get engrossed in depth with some very deep subjects on journeys (other websites have the same themes anyway)...I understand that...I will keep myself also at bay for the near future...there are many subjects which interest me and will pursue them myself, without necessarily sharing all that...I do that for own growth and clarity...there's little feedback here too...little traffic on journeys...my main interest for coming here was to "prove"...one can be a firm believer in Christ also beyond/after TF...may be there was some usefulness for it...
There's lots to learn and to practice...
At the moment I learn lots from a book from a classical Greek teacher/prof...his comments about life in Corinth and other ancient cities are thrilling. Those scholars have the best grasp of the Greek language and therfore I appreciate their comments immensely (that deep grasp cannot be expected of all the theologians...or preachers...hence some misconcepts)
Dispensationalism has it's limits...also limits interpretation...but at least I got a new view...to see some prophecies and rules or laws in its timeframe given...either it's valid beyond still or not...this to discern...to learn, can be very valuable.
I shudder though at this attempt to divide church history into periods taken from the epistles to the churches of Revelation. One can try to read that into history...seeing some analogy...but since the brethen/dispensationalists heavily criticise the charismatics...prone for such "revelations"...you wonder...I do...why they invent then such a scheme...which "smells" like some "revelation"
I do appreciate the brethren's take on church/assembly-leading and organisation (lack of hierarchy)...no paid clergy..usually (also differences there...unfortunately)
The issue at hand though has big importance IMO...and I simply have to agree with the Swiss/German brethren who commented on the issue on their website, that you can't make a stiff rule/law like Fruchtenbaum apparently did
It's some time ago, that I read some of his teachings.
It also is a "lesson"...not to automatically trust a Bible-teacher in all & everything, just because he happens to come from the people of Israel...shorter said...erranously/incorrectly... a Jew....in this case a messianic Jew.For many...actually me included...this leads to more reverence...more respect and with me it has also almost automatically more weight.
One should remind oneself again and again of the fact, that Berg also claimed to have been of jewish descendancy...which bore very
bad fruit...his "private"/lustdirected teachings. In the end one is left with the Bible and the Holy Spirit to lead and guide oneself...which is anyway the best tution-way possibly...only that I distrusted myself after TF lots, whether I am "hearing/reading/interpreting aright"...my distrust in myself was very great...so that I amassed a whole lot of commentaries...meanwhile I have to dedicate more time to study myself (plus what I have in commentaries)...which is more fun and I spare myself the arguments plus some drudgery on the boards.
Wish you all the best in your life...the Lord's blessing and protection.
P.S. For some time I was tempted to think, you are the same mir, who posted on movingon
I was also once very fond of Russian people...the language and missionary-news from there.
It's "funny"...how the focus can shift...in the end counts: all people are loved by God and also called to repentance...
