Having a belief that you can't investigate scientifically puts that belief in the realm of religion or as some would say, superstition.
What I mean by scientific is a certain set of methods for studying physical existence. If you can quantify it and measure it, then you can use scientific method to study it. If you can't quantify it or come up with a mathematical formula that explains it or predicts its probability, then it can't be studied by science.
I think there may be some folks who have worked on statistical models that support or refute the probability of God existing. One of the problems with this type of work is how one defines God.
