I mentioned here before a book about the implications of the incompleteness theorem of Gödel,
written by two mathematicians...bottomline and title of the book: without faith no knowing
mathematicians have to believe (not knowing everything)...physicists the same (Heisenberg)
So it is very relevant for the discussion, what you believe...or quoting you: how do we know...
Like I said...I do know...but who is we???
If it includes you, then there might be some difficulties along the line...even if I provided a "videotake" of those days...provided such technology existed...just in theory pls...then you could argue, that it was forged...
The question simply arises, what you consider proof...since we deal with the infinite of the power/might at least equal to the set of natural numbers...as far as words and combinations are concerned...hence theories and thoughts are concerned (my reasoning...having really not fully studied Gödel's theorem and implications...but you can learn as much as you desire to correct me if need be)....that means...you will never be sure about certain things...like Gödel proved for math...and sets of signs etc.
There is no direct link between the experience of the past to your day to day experiences...and even then you feelings and senses could betray you...just ask a scepticist...may be you're one...I read up about it and I know they are not even sure of the sparrow which sits metres across on the window-sill
So prove anything to the sceptic??
So I can't prove it to anyone...that's also the "nice" thing about the proofs of God...you don't prove it to someone...it's reasonable though...rather I think you invite the other...to have it proven to him/herself...which I tried to explain to you.
If you don't like that/want it...nothing I can do about it
