As Joshua said below, the difficult part is to decide if what we hear is from God. In fact, I would even go further to ask what the meaning of "hear" is. I also appreciate your explanation that God's gifts rain upon all but I wanted to comment on your very good question of "spirituality" while in TF.
This is what I think, that we followed a trail and ended up in the family and at one point or another we also ended up out of the family. The reasons for joining it and for leaving it are varied but the actual spiritual journey continues and we continue to "hearing". The more we do what we "hear" the more our faith grows, and it is completely unrelated to what else we do (like going or not going to church, for example). The byproduct is that this positive feedback reassures us and we move on.
There was a post in one of these boards saying that those who have left the Family are more spiritual than those who are still in. I agree with that as long as those who left the Family also left their teachings and morals. Let's face it, some people didn't leave the family voluntarily and are still family sheep. How spiritual can they be?
