i wrote this little poem for the lady that found the tape. i was so emotion-overloaded i could only express my gratitude to her by way of a silly little poem. this is what i wrote:
To my friend Dorothy – THANK YOU!
THE TAPE
The news travelled fast when Mum got the WORD
That Dorothy had found a tape mightier than the SWORD
I was nervous & excited waiting every DAY
And when the tape arrived I couldn’t even press PLAY!
I found my moment when I got home from WORK
But I didn’t expect my emotions to swing from tears to a SMIRK
To hear that little girl again was something I had to DO
That little girl was me you know, speaking all things TRUE
The honesty, the innocence, the cold hard FACTS
Made me realise why my life had seen so many CRACKS
I listened to that trusting child tell me of her STORY
And it was me who was the proudest in this tale of tragedy & GLORY
After hearing that tape I embraced that brave young JULIE
Dorothy you have changed my life & I mean that TRULY
Thank you my friend for keeping the “key” in a safe PLACE
And now that little girl called Julie is back for ALL TO EMBRACE.
