In cases like this it's not very helpful to try to escape responsibility by making doctrinal arguments. What most people need when they've been wronged or been defrauded of years of their life is an apology. Sometimes it's hard to define the limits of how much who is responsible for what, and I think only God can figure that all out.

In the meantime, if people who are responsible in some way will simply do like Jim Baaker did and say, "I was wrong," that in itself goes a long long way to cutting right through the Gordian Knot and resolving deep issues of injustice and hurt. It's good if people like Deborah are ready to assume responsibility now, and Russ as well.
