It's funny, I was listening to the morning radio the other day and I caught the tail end of an interview with Pastor Pete. I don't know who this guy was but he apparently goes around and exorcises houses, things, people, etc. Now, normally, I don't like to listen to this stuff because it's usually the run of the mill type of religiosity that makes my skin crawl, but this guy had some really interesting things to say and kind of rang true to me. He was saying that there are no such things as ghosts - or, people hanging around after death from this life while they wait to go to wherever. He believes that there are such things as familiar spirits - and I remember this term from the bible but never quite understood it - which are impish spirits that pretend to be a loved one or other figure but are anything of the sort. So all these characters that berg talked to were impish spirits - Rasputin, Abrahim, and so on. Now the F. is having people get prophecies from dead people and all they are doing is talking to impish spirits! those poor children in that group. Anyway, he believes that there are demons and there is evil, but that they are hitchikers, they don't start trouble, they find trouble and attach themselves to it and make it worse. That makes sense. In a way, by your own evil deeds, you open yourself up to these type of evil spirits. So Berg, and now Maria, just opened themselves up to these evil spirits by their own evil deeds. He also said that houses can be inhabited because of a past evil thing that happened, like a murder, or a suicide, praciticing in the occult, things like that. Oh, and he also said that these impish spirits get in through fear, they use that and it makes people weak. Who was it that said, "there is nothing to fear but fear itself?" Anybody else ever hear of this guy, Pastor Pete? If he had a book, I'd love to get it and read it.
