Berg considered himself to be the "archaeologist" of the true interpretations and meanings of the bible, largely via his spirit helpers and thanks to generous portions of sherry and other alcohol.
I remember one verse he turned around to make it an altogether different meaning. Any scholars here to comment on the following? :
Berg said the verse "Peace on earth good will towards men" was actually "Peace on earth towards men of good will" (I wrote humans because that message, imo was to all of humankind and not just to King James and people with certain anatomy)
Now, when I see this verse what I think of is that the angel was simply announcing good news. There was a child born who would bring peace on earth and brought good will towards people.
To put it very simply, a way of life the world will probably never grasp as a whole as a way of life, but individuals from every country and even different religions can grasp the way that Jesus himself lived. And it was to heal and to love with a perfect love (not a rapacious sexual appetite). And I believe there are individuals in many walks of life that live like this. Not perfectly, but "Christ-like".
Anyway, I was just thinking of the archaeologist thing and the way berg muddied up the bible rather than illuminating anything.
Also, his interpretations often allowed for scripture to be manipulated to back up his authority and control. Many cults and movements do this. This is why I am very leary of any cause in the name of Christ, Allah, Buddha or anything led by a so-called enlightened individual that everyone believes and blindly follows.
I don't believe in end-time prophets at all. Just end time PROFITS.
