In the last case, people joining with full knowledge of the perversion, they might be like the people who say, "Lord, Lord, have not we done great works in your name?" and he replies, "I never knew you."
Remember Lydia who (if I have this right) believes she was never saved in the Family because she had just rejected a true Christian talking to her about Jesus, but was drawn by the sex-oriented "gospel" of the Family?
Just because people are in the Family (and stay in) doesn't mean they joined for Jesus,or that they stay for Jesus. I've heard that some Family leaders are so used to the perks and know the ropes so well they just treat it as a job and stay for that reason. They're not there for Jesus. They're there for the job they know and the income it gives. And whoooopie---the sexual free for alls. There is a real difference as to what drew users and child abusers into the Family, and what drew those sincerely wishng to server God.
And the sad thing is, people change dramatically over the years in the Family. Someone who joins for the right reasons years ago, but then sees the evil and closes their eyes because they're used to the lifestyle, have bought into the exclusivist, proud clique, have friends in the Family, are ashamed to be labeled a backslider if they leave ... are STAYING for all the wrong reasons. Are they staying for Jesus? They know they're not. But fear and pride keeps them in.
