You're absolutely right Donny about the programming disguised as "devotions" and "word studies". The worse part was that Bible truths were interspersed with the lies that it became impossible to sort thru it all after leaving the fam. So much crap we have to unlearn. I'm with you on reading all we can about the Christian faith written by various writers (and not get intimidated by the warped ones---at least you know where it ain't). I find that this is one of the best ways I can validate what I've chosen to believe. It's a good exercise in critical thinking, not accepting every idea as true but testing them against all sorts of reality checks. It's like starting from scratch again but with the innocence lost. I get confused a lot then I remind myself to stick to what I feel in my gut to be right, then it works for me. Each time I validate a belief then I feel I regain some of that innocence.
