It's not an answer for the children, for the ones who had noone else to turn to or hear from, who had no access to information, who were not old enough to leave and find out for themselves, whose whole life was the cult, all their past, all their present, and for some all their future. In the past 7 years the access of information has changed a lot for my own generation and the teenagers who are still in, with the Internet and a greater freedom to read and go out on their own, but the children who are still in don't have that much freedom and are still being brought up with only one view of the truth, just as we were.
True, now I'm older and have access to other viewpoints and can read the Bible and make my own decisions on what it means, it still doesn't settle the question: Why did God allow it to happen to innocents? It just doesn't make logical sense at all. Any parent would do whatever had to be done, to the point of murder, to protect their child (well, any loving, caring and devoted parent). God was our parent 'When my mother and father forsake me...', God took on that role in our lives and failed at it.
