for your advice and concern, I appreciate it.
I don't know that I don't believe in God, but I don't believe He is what the Bible portrays. I don't believe Him as evil, but as distant and not as concerned with us immortals as we would like to think, or as we believe He is based on the Bible.
I am not closed to the chance that God and I may rekindle our relationship one day, but at this point, I figure I gave God many years of my life, childhood, career, youth, innocence and trust, it's now in His court to prove Himself to me. And by proof I mean in a way that is undeniable to me personally.
And in the meantime it is easier for me to dismiss the idea of God, Satan and the forces of evil, and look at the world as just people trying to live their lives however they best see fit and within the confines of the social structure. I think religion is good in that it gives people morals and codes to live by, it gives other people comfort and peace, it gives other people answers to questions they don't understand. As for me, I prefer to go it my own and once I am able to stand on my own feet, reconsider bringing in a religious element, if that makes sense.
Sort of like a relationship with a person, you love them dependently and they are your all in all, to the point you cannot be a separate person without them, or you love them independently to where you can retain your own indentity and yet love and build your life with them, more of an 'equal' relationship rather than a 'doormat' relationship. This is perhaps the relationship I would seek with God.
