blueberries sound nice.and ty 4 the sentiments.

as far as the ? of job tho', i'm curious why you've come to that conclusion. in ch.1&2 we observe the behind the scenes action of satan and God. neither makes any mention of fear. the ? i asked had to do w/ the action of God. you seem to see all this , the hedge and its removal, as purely job's doing. i see the hedge as from God,(1:10) and satan's penetration of it only at God's permission.(1:12,2:6). that is the theological issue i was raising, in the light of our discussion of who was involved in our joining. in neither case , if i get you correctly , was God even involved in the sense of his permissive will. this sounds like a world where God is not actively involved even in the lives of those who pray. we make our own hedges of protection, and only our lack of faith (fear)can make us vulnerable. sounds like magic to me.

i see job refer to his fear in 3:25. it sounds like the normal fears of a parent. (who doesn't get nervous when their child runs a fever, or takes up rockclimbing, or starts driving?) when God shows up to answer job it does not seem to be job's fears that he is dealing w/. i see no mention of it. do you?

the theology i see in job is very different from the veiw you seem to offer here. does satan have freedom to do what ever he wants to man , if man's faith is imperfect? does he not have to get permission from God? God seems to assert that he, is in fact , in control. (42:2). not satan nor ourselves.
