Very deep, good thoughts. Yes, I think we just need to live according to the light we have and understand. I think that's what Bystander meant by the Mark Twain quote: live the simple truths that are so easy to understand (but maybe hard to live at times) and don't worry trying to figure out the mysterious stuff.

Example: "He that loveth father or mother or wife or children more than me is not worthy of me." I think that's the verse you had in mind. Real confusion can come in when you think of that together with "He that hateth not father, mother, wife, children, yea and his own life also cannot be my disciple."

But the commonsense interpretation is, (a) "Oh! I'm supposed to love Jesus more than any person and not make gods out of them!" and (b) I am STILL supposed to show strong devotion, love, care and attention to my parents, family, children, etc. That is my duty to God. No person (be he "prophet" or otherwise) can come into my life and tell me to forsake my kids to do "God's work" or to give nothing to my parents because I'm tithing to Berg or even a church."

You're right that we need to do things not because we want a Sophie mansion in heaven. THAT was how Berg got so many of us to make such enormous sacrifices that we should not have made -- such as giving up our children and mates. We were then told, "Our light affliction (sacrifices) worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." So kiss your mate goodbye, you'll see them in heaven later in your mansion of gold and you'll know it was worth it all. Let your kids go off to another country, let the Shepherd discipline them while you stand there, becuase those extra jewels that puts in your crown will be the extra "weight of glory."

To which I say, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. Nice try, Bergie. You got me once you you will NEVER get me again on that one.
