Mark Twain's bad investments

But I tremendously admire Mark Twain that, after he ran up losses and debts, he had the option to declare bankruptcy, but declined, preferring instead to go on an arduous series of speaking tours around the country to raise money and pay off his debts. And he did it. I would love to have heard him talk.

Hats off to him for that.
