Your last sentence "It is also a lot harder to leave with a tribe of kids than to just take yourself out" was certainly true for me. Since my ex left me with six kids, the prospect of starting from zero with them was pretty darn daunting. In retrospect, I wish I had gathered up my courage at least a few years earlier than I did.

Thank God I had a mother who, though elderly and ill, was willing to let me stay with her for at least a few months at the beginning. Also, thank God my last Home (in Texas)- believe it or not- gave me a couple thousand dollars when I left to get started on; they were just a regular witnessing Home and took it from soon coming due rent and some funds that were starting to be saved for a move. It was basically all they had to give, which I know 'cause I was on the "teamwork", and at least gave me something which I held onto for a security deposit, etc. on an apartment.

And the Lord did a lot, I found a good job quickly with an attorney who remembered me from high school and took quite a gamble, 'cause I was honest with him about what I'd been doing for the last 23 years, etc.

But all that to say, it can be done, as of course those of you reading this already know, so don't know why I'm wasting your time reading this!

Take care,
Laura
