Many interpretations

Yes, there are many interpretations. But that particular perterist author said that if you're going to interpret it literally that you HAVE to notice that vs. 34 says, "THIS generation shall not pass, till all THESE things be fulfilled." Meaning all the events from Mat. 24:1-33, which include the Return of Christ verses in 27-31.

Are you saying then that you feel the "70 AD fulfillments" end at about verse 22, and that verses 23-36 is yet to happen upon the Return of Christ? If this is the case, then we are seeing more eye to eye than I thought.

The only difference being that I'd tend to see verses 1-22 happening in 70 AD as the first, immediate fulfillment (agreeing with you there), but then happening again in the final days as a final fulfillment. And I'm not even so dogmatic about that.

About the Dan.9:27 verses, I guess it depends upon which translation you use. The KJV would tend to support your interpretation. Ie: Jesus makes the covenant in 30 AD, then in about 66-70 AD (the last 3 1/2 years) he makes the temple desolate becuase of the Jews' "overspreading of abominations", ie. continuing temple worship after rejecting Jesus.

But that still puts what preterists calls an unacceptable GAP between the first 69 weeks and the last 3-1/2 years. The 69 weeks would end in 30 AD and the last 3-1/2 years pick up 33 years later in about 66 AD. (THis was the interpretation of many early church fathers, by the way. Is this your view as well?)
