Alan,
Regardless of what I believe or do, I will face my judge (if you are correct). That is a responsibility that only I can accept. While I appreciate your concern for my immortal soul, should I actually possess such a thing, then I alone will face its creator.
I do not fear my higher power. Even if the reality of higher power turns out to be more like the one you describe, I will face that one with what I know of love. What little I know of love is sufficient because it gives me a willingness to accept whatever is revealed at death.
What other choice do I have? I cannot act with a certainty I do not possess. If I make myself possess certainty about the unknown, that is, accept someone else's light about the meaning of Jesus' words, then I forfeit responsibility for my lived experience of holy being. I have learned to trust deeply in what is (for me) an ineffable mystery that cannot be "known" in the cognitive sense as a set of beliefs and propositions.
