It applies to public schools, not private, Christian ones. I mean, would you not be upset if your child came home with a pencil that said "Wahabism (or whatever it is--Islamic Saudi extremist religion) is the way of God" or "Jesus hates you" or "Satan Loves the little children"?
Since we are a diverse society with many religions and also atheism, all need to be respected privately when it comes to public venues such as courts, schools etc., for the society to be "free". Then kids whose parents choose for them to, can go to Christian academies or private schools where they are free to relate to each other in a common basis of belief.
