Hello again Miguel,

Sorry about that, I must have been having a senior moment (I'll be hitting the big 50 on October 1) I'm no longer pushing 40, I'm dragging it! (LOL) I am dismayed by the attitude expressed by some of our ex-fam peers. The reasons for their support of court rulings and legislation that could erode our constitutional liberties is both ironic and puzzling.

I would guess that there are differing reasons for each individual. Both Anovagrrl and Acheick have offered some good possibilities.

I think you are on the mark in your own suggestions for the root causes to their reactions.

For some of them, it is a defensive reaction. They have had more than their share of grief from their cult experiences, and want to avoid any more emotional pain.

Rightly or wrongly, they associate any religious principles that Christians promote as something equal to the garbage TF used on them. Therefore, if some judges or politicians propose laws that will suppress Christians, they are all for it.

Since most of the ex-fam members who have taken this position have abandoned Christianity, they don't care if other people's religious rights are violated. You are right, it is a selfish but quite human trait.
