The connection is that Henson, who is convicted of a hate crime and living in exile in Canada, used message boards just like this one to speak out against a cult. Those messages were used against him at his trial.
He was not sued by the cult. He was charged with a crime by the people of the state of California, and was convicted in criminal court.
As far as approaching someone on the street to tell them what he thought, he did that too.
Frankly, after reviewing his case, I do think that Henson made an ass out of himself. Especially by conducting a demonstration at one of the office of the Church of Scientology.
Of couse, I watched a conversation a year or so ago on one of the ex-member boards where people discussed going down and doing a public demonstration at the offices of FCF near San Diego.
Some time ago, when I was talking about this case over at NDN, someone suggested that I was only saying this to scare ex-members into keeping quiet. That is not true. What I'd like to do is call attention to the fact that we have some really stupid laws coming down the pike. They are created to protect victims, and get twisted around and used against victims.
If that isn't enough chilling information, take into account that the recent book "The Endtime Family" was written by a guy who has very clear ties to The Church of $cientology.
