I mean that if you think that whatever good things Jefferson and other founders did should be nullified because they were slave owners. If that is your position, I think it's over the top. I certainly agree with you that slavery is a terrible stain on our nation's history though.
Unfortunately, slavery is still with us here in the U.S. and elsewhere. The U.N. recently held a conference about the international trade in sex slaves. Young women from poor third-world countries are being offered attractive jobs overseas. They end up being locked up in brothels or forced to work the streets as prostitutes. Young women from the former Soviet Union, Albania, Armenia, etc. can be ffound all over Western European cities, working off their debts to the smugglers who charged them thousands of dollars for getting them into other countries.
The whole world shares in the blame for this abominable situation.
