What planet have I been on? Well let's see...The one that Hitler was busy taking over...the planet where "ethnic cleansing" was wiping out whole villages in the former Yugoslavia...Those liberated people certainly saw the U.S. and her allies as a light and refuge.
If America is so terrible, why do so many people risk their lives to come here?
I'm not saying this nation is perfect. If you read my post about Thomas Jefferson, you would have seen that I have critisized my country too. I'm not rubber-stamping every action we take in other countries. I think that when weighed in the balance, the good that America has done far outweighs the bad.
If America hadn't defeated the Japaneese, you Aussies might be speaking Japaneese. If America hadn't gone to Europe, that region would still be living under a post-Nazi dictatorship.
You forget I lived in Central America. I know what it was like in the dictatorships in Nicaragua and Panama. I have friends in those countries today, and they all say things are much better there now that Daniel Ortega, the pawn of Fidel Castro is gone, or in Panama, where Manuel Noriega has been ousted. Those people have democracy now. What's wrong with that?
