The regular ex-member posters of Bible Search have denounced the leader of the "Jesus Christans" so called as another controlling group or cult. I'd hesitate to refer Postman Pat to that group. Actually, Rocky, I think you hit the nail on the head when you declared our strong aversion to groups and over-organized religion.
I think part of the reason so many of us joined the Family (besides not knowing what we were getting into) is that we are/were social creatures and didn't just want to follow God on our own, but wanted to be part of a group, and to have the support of group dynamics with all the love, social interaction and acceptance that you get from a group consisting of like-minded individuals.
Wanting acceptance, particularly group acceptance is a real trap. People will do insane stuff to gain and keep acceptance. It's best for all of us to stand by our own convictions. If we find like-minded people to walk that road with us, well and fine.
But I will never again allow group approval, acceptance and social pressure to dominate my mind and my life.
