well, that's what I was trying to say. Religion is often used as an excuse or made use of for other reasons. However, there are instances where people were defending their faith. It is cited that the Just War doctrine came to being because the Moors were slashing and burning Christian churches and artifacts in their quest and were gaining so much territory because Christians were not taking up arms.
