I don't think any of us desire war, but if you think we should all simply surrender to the Hitlers, Sadams, Stalins, and Maos of the world then you are the one who needs to rethink your position.
If you think that "peace" can be had by surrendering to the thugs of the world, then you are not a student of history. Pacifism only emboldens tyrants to attack their neighbors. I shudder to think what this world would be like if America and her allies had taken your advice during World Wars I and II. The "peace at any price" philosophy only leads to a false peace.
