If you'll remember, people tried to tell us, but we still couldn't, or wouldn't, hear. And if they persisted, we became defensive, and heard even less.
Some of my friends came to visit me in the first few weeks I was in the F, and they saw through it immediately (though they told me later they were reacting more to a gut feeling than anything else). It took me 13 years!
Even when we were trying to be objective, some of our foundational ideas were so off track that they would lead us back around to wrong conclusions. That's why these boards are important: they introduce new thoughts into the equation, making it possible for us to see things from a different angle.
Those of us in contact with people still in the F. know that it doesn't help much to berate them for not being able to see. It's hard sometimes, but I believe patience and prayer, along with honest directness about the things that are wrong, will eventually help many of them to have their eyes opened to what others (and their own consciences) have been trying to point out to them all along.
