Hey, I was an army brat too. My dad was in for 30 yrs, and retired a full colonel. I remember the "hard" drinking, not just my dad but it seems like most of his peers too. When I was a kid at the cocktail parties my parents had at home I'd get to listen to a lot of the officers and the wives, most of them pretty tight, as I'd help serve the hors d'oeuvres, they'd go on and on about the benefits of growing up as a military dependent, at the same time I was learning to drink way too young, it was easy to sneak drinks from the half empty bottles of champagne, etc.

So growing up in the military meant living in lots of places: Ft. Sam in San Antonio, Ft. Leavenworth in Kansas, then Paris, France when I was 11 in '60, 3 yrs later back in the States to Milwaukee, after that tour of duty my dad retired and I went to New England in '67 to college and became a hippy. I joined the Fam in '71, and that was still a life of moving regularly and irregularly.
