I'm too much of a rational empiricist to interpret my experience as channeling. In my profession, "channeling" is known as a "dissociative episode with delusional features." :)

I'm not sure what "spirit helper" means. I definitely think there are energies associated with the mind/body that facilitate healing and disease processes. There are also creative and destructive energies associated with the universe in general. I think these energies can be marshalled (to some extent) by human intention to heal the body and bring comfort to the dying. There's a growing body of scientific evidence that supports the efficacy of prayer and meditation.

I experienced healing energy through the words of a soul sister.

I do not know where the mind/body energy goes when a person dies. I can hope for life after death, but I can't know what it means to live beyond the mortal coil until I step through death's door. I always remember that the hope of life after death embodied in Jesus' resurrection is just that--an embodied mystery that transcends my understanding.

The notion that my ego-bound consciousness will survive death and continue on in a disembodied state doesn't comfort me one bit. Frankly, the hope of eternal life that Bergy & Zerby teach with all those departed spirit helpers speaking from beyond the grave sounds like pure hell to me.
