i myself am a king james kind of guy, but it does strike me that the kind of anger that nc flashes in response to alan's somewhat aggressive posts is exactly the point. when a follower of jesus comes upon a challenge to their position, rather than see the need to get in there quick to defend orthodoxy before some "doctrinal error" stands unchallenged, perhaps we might consider trying to understand the heart of the speaker, and look for ways to connect w/ more respectful, meaningful dialogue. i spend a lot of time in evangelical circles, and it seems to me we could learn a lot from observing the master's manner in such discussions. he always provided plenty to chew on w/o making anyone feel chewed out. imo, at least.
