I like a lot of what you say, Eva. I also believe that the Bible was mistranslated. But try to say that in some Christian circles, and oh boy. Then I feel weird, like I'm doing just what Berg did in adding or deleting from the bible. But as you say, it's not adding or deleting, it's correcting it or understanding it. Whenever I say anything like that I get these same scriptures about being damned (from Revelations?) for changing the bible. I don't think it's changing it so much as understanding it and correcting the mistranslations that have put us in so much confusion. That's funny that someone quoted "God is not the author of confusion" - then God's not the author of the whole Christian world because there is an awful lot of confusion going on there. When you think about the different dogmas and how sometimes they are so diametrically opposed, you know that there is some mix up somewhere and it's correct to say, it's not with God. It's certainly with man and his attempts at making things fit his way.

I liked reading what you wrote, but I wish you would not have prefaced it with "Alan and his cohorts." I don't see Alan as leading a band of fundamentalists. It just seemed rather demeaning to say that and kind of discredited the whole article. Tip - leave those things out and you'll have a much bigger audience.
