Christians may understand and grasp the point that it is not paganism, but I don't believe outsiders of the Christian religion can easily grasp this point.
From my very limited studies into Hinduism, the diverse gods found in the religion are actually manifestations of the same god, same as Christianity. I believe this is what the definition you gave also said.
Hindus probably can grasp the point that it is all really the same god in different forms, and to them this is natural, but for those outside of the Hindu religion it probably appears quite paganistic.
