If an immigrant family is sold a house that is condemned and they are unaware and they purchase it with their hard earned money only to lose everything they have worked for, they will have learned not to trust, and not to buy bridges at face value. I don't see them as stupid, or responsible for buying what they thought was part of an american dream. What they are responsible for, however, is to learn from their mistakes.
We were young, most of us upon joining, and we bought that house and had those dreams. It wasn't wrong or stupid of us. In many cases, it may have been the only known avenue to have a piece of the pie. Or so we thought.
I have learned alot from the past. And from hardships. Sometimes I use that education to help others not to fall into the same pit.
Some don't survive the fall. We are the survivors and for that I think we all deserve to feel good about ourselves.
