There is a case on the books about a welfare couple that bought a refrigerator on time. The people who sold the refrigerator to the couple, knew they had a welfare check and knew they were good for so much money. Soooo...they jacked up the interest rates and sold it to them for more than they normally would to someone who was not on welfare. Somehow the case went to court and the courts found that the company was in error because they abused their sales tactics. They knew the people were not informed enough to be able to have all the facts and they took advantage of that. Because they were on welfare, they had no other options and were stuck with paying this higher price.
I kind of feel like that's what happened to us. Yes, we were young and idealistic, we didn't have all the facts, and were taken advantage of because of our sincerity and vulnerability and gullibility.
