It seems that Berg has stolen the greatest gift. Paul, you know the guy Berg called a woman-hater, reminds us to come boldly to the thone of grace where there is His mercy and grace to help. (Well, some people say he wrote Hebrews, some say Pricilla wrote it :) ) I found that invitation is still open. Berg was a thief. He's dead. Don't let his ghost rob you of that which Christ died to offer you. Himself.
When I was in a Jesus group before the COG we had a night of meditation on the prayer called the "Lords Prayer". That night will always be a part of me, as will that prayer. Also the prayers Paul prayed for the Church in Ephesians 1 & 3 and Colossians 1. I din't mean to use them as rote but to think about what was being prayed and why. There is a lot there.
Some of the old books about prayer by Hattie Hammond, Oswald Chambers, "He That is Spiritual" by Chafer, "The Pursuit of God" by AW Tozer, "Making All Things New", Henri JM Nowen. There is a lot of good stuff out there. You don't have to swallow all of it. Just take time to seek truth. Seek Christ.
Young children and young christians are vulnerable and easily manipulated. That wide eyed innocent idea that all christians are motevated by love is so precious. There are some "woes" to be passed out. There are and always have been dishonest people out there. Some claim to be Christians. Some are just mean people with another ploy to pull. Berg was one of those but, as I said, he's dead. Please, Don't give him power over your life now. Become the most honest, dignified, sincere and wonderful Christian out there. Rebuild your relationship with Christ if you have to start from the ground up. Read, pray, think, ask questions, seek and you will find Jesus. That's where we started this adventure isn't it?
