I just re-read the excellent commentary which accompanies the ML titled "The Girl Who Wouldn't" (posted in the COG Pubs section of exfamily.org). Anovagrrl co-authored this insightful analysis with someone named Liz. If any of you exers haven't read it, you really should check it out.
The commentary of these two ladies clearly exposes the devious and cunning tactics which David Berg applied with such devastating effect. After reading their analysis of this horrible ML, I had a clearer understanding of how Berg managed to deceived so many. Berg's ability to manipulate and brainwash was diabolical.
Anovagrrl has written that Berg had a mental illness. She also says that mentally ill people can sometimes display genius. I don't doubt that this is true. I certainly agree that Berg was a madman, and his manipulating skills show genius. My own theory, however, is that Berg's ability had an assist from external forces.
I believe that Berg's dabbling in occultist practices such as channeling and "spirit guides opened him to demonic influence or even possession. In my opinion, Berg did not possess the kind of manipulative genius that is demonstrated in "The Girl Who Wouldn't." He had the assistance of a fallen angel named Lucifer.
Regardless of whether or not Berg's ability to manipulate and deceive came from his own mind or from the spirit world, Anovagrrl and Liz's commentary is a must-read for the exer community. Well done, Anovagrrl and Liz!
