I think I can understand Wondering/N_C or whoever
else could be bothered by strong remarks of people
with strong convictions. The problem is, Christians do feel strongly their obligation towards Jesus their (and not only their) Saviour & when there is
a "smell of untruth" somewhere, well, He`s the way,
the truth & the life, also the living word...& when
someone knows that plenty, there is the urge to share that, to "enlighten" others...because there is an honest heartfelt, you could say loving obligation, to see that your neighbour doesn't
fall prey to any error...wellmeant...
however, since we still see through a glass darkly, it could be, that some of the Christian's comments aren't really
to the point, missing the point & it could even be,
I think it's very much, not only theoretically, possible, that no one could really decide or discern in a tricky matter (I'd offer predestination as a possible candidate). In the
circles of scientists, well educated people, including theologians you very often find the extensive use of the modal verbs...not that they are unsure about everything, but they show, that things can't always so easily be labeled. Now for
my personal relationship with Jesus I don't need
the modal verbs, but there are things, I am not
100% sure of, so I leave that up to God & our future...It could help on boards like these, not
to give the impression to be sure about everything;
I'd follow the saying/advice, to doubt/mistrust
someone, who says he has no doubts....
(Strange thing, Berg used plenty of times the modal
verbs, so much, that I as a follower thought, well,
what is he really certain of ; ) )
