If I remember correctly, an ecological error occurs when the results in one population are expanded to try to explain a total different population. The error in the case of Bell's theorem is not in expanding the results to other populations but when the population's results are tried to be applied to the individual events.
But considering you name (AG) I am sure you already know this :-)
