It is interesting to note that Maria may have manipulated Berg in some ways, but rather than sexist roles, the struggle was about power. Berg, after all, was a pedophile way before he started the family, having incested at least one of his own children. Maria was 17, I think, when she joined, and she craved power too. So I see equality in the boat of offenses and abuse of power.
