You pretty much summed it up Achieck. My post was over the top, I'll admit, but I've personally gotten over the Berg indoctrination years ago. I was saying it for the benefit of many others who have left the cult and no longer beleive the Family is "it" and the best Christians on earth, but who still have this residual feeling that all other Christians and the churches they attend are compromising hypocritical Pharisees. I think for many people this is part of the Berg indoctrination that still needs to be given a second look.
I understand what Mekka's saying. She hated churches and disliked the Christians she saw before she joined the Family, so these were her own views. Welcome to them. But I've met some very sincere, warm and helpful Christians in churches I've attended. One lady walked up and gave us $100 when we were desperate for money. I've told pastors I was part of the cult and there was never any condemnation, only understanding. We've had good friends, even sincere little old ladies and men, who did nothing but good and kind things for us. I've met a few hypocrites walking around in snake-skin shoes (including a landlord who ripped us off) but the overwhelming majority of Christians I've met were good, sincere people trying their best to hold down a job, pay their bills, raise their kids and help their fellow man.
It didn't jive at all with the decades of indoctrination Berg fed us. And Berg's biggest beef was that the churches were supposedly anti-sex! Berg was always raging against the churches because they wouldn't have liked his law of love, FFing, sharing, incest and pedofilia. He was always saying that the churhes were narrow-minded Pharisees who thought sex was sin. (Well, HIS kind of sex, yeah!)
